Culture Moves Europe — grant for individual mobility and artistic exchange in Europe
This is an opportunity to legally travel to another European country and receive funding for individual mobility related to art, culture and creative practice. The programme supports trips where the key focus is on the artistic process, international exchange and the development of creative practice, rather than just training or internships.
About the programme
Culture Moves Europe is a pan-European mobility programme implemented as part of the Creative Europe initiative. It was created to support artists and cultural professionals who want to work in an international context, build professional networks and develop their practice through physical mobility.
Unlike regional programmes that focus on specific countries or target groups, Culture Moves Europe operates at the European level and involves a competitive selection process among applicants from different countries.
Who is the programme suitable for
The programme is suitable for artists, authors and cultural professionals who are already working in their field and want to develop their practice through international collaboration. This could include authors working in visual arts, photography, performance, design, architecture, music, literature and interdisciplinary formats.
The programme focuses on artistic and cultural mobility. In your application, it is important to show how the trip is related to your practice and why the international context is significant for it.
Artistic and professional mobility
The programme supports travel related to creative work, research and artistic exchange. This could be working on a project, collaborating with a partner, participating in a residency, laboratory or research process.
The trip must be a meaningful part of your professional trajectory. It is important to show in your application what role this mobility plays in the development of your practice and what results it can bring in the future.
Hosting organisation and partnership
To apply, you must have a hosting organisation or partner in another European country. This can be an organisation, institution, residency, festival, cultural platform or professional community.
In your application, you must explain why you have chosen this particular partner, what form of cooperation you are planning, and how this interaction will influence your artistic or professional practice.
Travel dates and format
Travel will take place during the 2025–2026 competition period. The duration of mobility depends on the competition conditions and the format chosen. Both short-term visits and longer stays related to artistic or research work are possible.
What the grant covers
Funding covers the main costs of mobility — transport, accommodation and daily allowances. Additional costs related to accessibility or environmentally friendly travel formats may also be taken into account. The amount of support is calculated at fixed rates and depends on the distance between countries and the duration of mobility.
Approximate amount of funding
Funding under the programme is calculated automatically by the system when the application is submitted. In practice, individual support usually ranges from a few hundred to a few thousand euros and in most cases covers basic travel and accommodation costs.
The programme does not provide a salary, but allows you to focus on working in an international context without the need for personal financial investment.
What you need to apply
To apply, you must first:
formulate the objectives of your trip and the expected results,
describe how mobility relates to your artistic or professional practice, and
confirm your collaboration with the host organisation.
The application requires careful preparation and is subject to competitive selection at European level.
Application deadlines Applications
will be accepted from 1 October 2025 until 30 April 2026. Applications are submitted on a monthly basis, and each application is reviewed in the month in which it was submitted. After 30 April 2026, applications for this competition will no longer be accepted.
Alternative for Belarusian citizens
A separate mobility programme MOST IV, is available for Belarusian citizens, specifically targeting Belarusian artists and cultural professionals. In some cases, it proves to be a simpler and more practical alternative for professional trips to the EU.
