Innovate Artist Grants — quarterly international grants for artists and photographers
Sometimes an artist does not need a project, a concept or a long explanation, but simply time and resources to continue working. This grant program is precisely about that. It supports visual artists and photographers without complex requirements or bureaucracy, allowing them to focus on practice rather than paperwork.
Who the program supports
The grant is aimed at visual artists and photographers working across various media — from painting, drawing and sculpture to mixed media and digital photography. The format does not restrict style, theme or direction. The focus is on the works themselves and the artistic level of the author.
Format and amount of support
The program provides a cash grant of 1,800 USD and is held four times a year. In each quarterly cycle, two main recipients are selected: one in visual art and one in photography. In addition, honorable mentions are awarded, offering publication and professional visibility even if the applicant does not receive the main grant.
Minimum bureaucracy — maximum focus on the work
A key feature of the program is the simplified application process. The application does not require project descriptions, recommendation letters or complex documentation. There is no need to explain a concept or justify the relevance of a project. Works are evaluated directly, without additional texts, making the grant particularly accessible to artists who do not work within an academic or institutional framework.
Openness and international format
The grant is open to international applicants and has no restrictions regarding citizenship or place of residence. Artists from any country may apply, including those from Belarus and Russia. The main requirements are being at least 18 years old and the ability to complete the application in English.
Flexible use of funds
The awarded funds have no designated purpose and do not require financial reporting. Artists may use the grant in whatever way is most needed at the moment: for production, materials, studio rent, travel or sustaining daily practice. This format is particularly valuable for independent authors working without institutional support.
Who the program is best suited for
This grant is suitable for artists at different stages of their careers — from emerging to established professionals with a sustained practice. It is especially beneficial for those seeking real financial support without complex barriers, who wish to participate in international grant cycles regularly and are not prepared to spend months preparing applications.
