APE CAMP 2026 — international art & technology camp in South Korea for digital artists and engineers under 39
This open call is addressed to artists, producers, and engineers from around the world who work at the intersection of art and technology and are interested in collaborative and experimental formats. The program combines team-based work, an intensive international laboratory, and a professional environment in which artistic ideas are developed together with technological expertise. APE CAMP is organized by Arts Council Korea (ARKO), the national public institution supporting contemporary arts in South Korea. Participation requires full attendance throughout the entire camp.
Who APE CAMP is for
The program is open to participants under the age of 39 who work in creative or technological fields related to art–technology convergence. A key requirement is the ability to work collaboratively in an international and interdisciplinary context.
APE CAMP brings together two professional categories: Art and Technology.
Art category This category is intended for young artists and producers actively engaged in creative practices related to art–technology convergence. Eligible fields include literature, visual arts, theatre and musical theatre, music, dance, traditional arts, and interdisciplinary artistic practices.
Technology category This category is open to professionals, researchers, and experts in technology fields whose specialized knowledge can be applied to art–technology convergence-based creative practices. Eligible areas include stage technologies such as lighting, sound, video, immersive sound, and kinetic art; emerging technologies including AI, blockchain, data science, software development, metaverse, motion capture, robotics, and VR/AR/XR; core sciences such as biotechnology, chemistry, geology.
How the program works
APE CAMP takes place from 12 to 16 June 2026 in the Seoul metropolitan area (Seoul or Gyeonggi Province). Selected participants, referred to as “campers,” are randomly assigned to international interdisciplinary teams composed of artists, producers, and engineers from different countries and professional backgrounds. During the camp, teams collaboratively develop ideas, test concepts, and transform them into viable project proposals. At the end of the program, participants present their outcomes to other campers and invited experts. English is the working language of the camp.
Support for participants
Participation in APE CAMP is free of charge. International participants receive partial reimbursement for round-trip airfare, accommodation for the duration of the camp in shared rooms, and meals during the program.
Follow-up opportunities
Participants whose projects are selected may apply for APE Lab, a follow-up support program that provides staged assistance for further experimentation, development, production, and realization of projects initiated during the camp.
Application deadline: 12 March 2026.
